{You are not what you experienced.}
You are who you create yourself to be.
Things can impact you, but your experiences don't define who you are.
Do not reduce your whole life to your experiences. Your life experiences contribute to who you are, but they do not define who you are.
You are defined by the choices you make today. If you find that your experiences define you, do the work with a therapist to create a life defined by you.
Ways To Deal With People Who Are Emotionally Draining

In healthy relationships, positive changes are well received. In unhealthy relationships, change is a threat to the dysfunction that has been allowed.
Find the courage to be well despite the shifts that may happen.
You Cannot Make or Convince People Into Doing This
{You are not for everyone. And everyone is not for you.}
Accepting that you are not for everyone and everyone is not for you makes life easier. Fighting against *what is* makes life more challenging. Acceptance is a process.
